How do i stay alive?
As a elementist thats going to be using silver armor with lota ppl on me...what should my sub class be with what skills to help me stay alive good.

PVE or PVP?
If PVE, Sliver is only really worthwhile if you are doing solo farming. To get damage output from Sliver, pretty much all the enemies should be hitting you which is not the case if you are adventuring in a party or with henches.
In this case, the sub class that you need is Assassin. You can get the build on PvX builds. Basically the Assassin skills used are Shadowform, Deaths charge and Dark Escape (and others, depending on area) with Ele damage skills being Sliver, Crystal Wave, Tenais Crystals, Obsidian Flame etc. This is a boss killer build but you can take out some enemies with it.....before shadow form expires and you have to run!

If you use Shadow Form, just recast it after the boss dies. Sliver is a nice defense skill, but to use it offensively, you need to be dedicated to it. This rarely means a team build. As noted, you would want as many enemies attacking you as possible, and this means a high chance for you to get killed. If you don't want to run Shadow Form, you would want to use Obsidian Flesh probably, but most options are deadly. Next best thing to try would be lots of enchants (armor boosts, Stoneflesh, etc.) and Mystic Regeneration from Dervish.
But if you want to solo boss farm, go E/A for Shadow Form.

Ok, just so I don't have to get all bitchy, I'll assume you're talking about farming.
Various secondaries offer different skills and stuff to stay alive, depending on what you're fighing.
Assassin offers Shadow Form - near invulnerability to just about everything. If you're not farming a boss with it (therefore, not getting the insta-recharge), then I'd recommend Shadow of Haste and Dash to pull you out of the mob before Shadow Form ends and you die.
Mesmer's there for Mantra of Earth.
Armor of Earth, Stoneflesh Aura, Mantra and Stone Striker offer near-invulnerability to most physical-type attacks, allowing you to tank ad infinitum. Also, in builds that require adrenaline/energy denial, you can use Visages.
As Coloneh said, the Dervishes' Mystic Regeneration goes well with earth enchants - you could tank fairly well in areas with degen-type foes.
Then... There's monk... You can go 55, if you really need to. 5 superior runes on your armour, no +hp stuff, and get a -50hp cesta.
Protective Spirit + regen skills is key. However, serious degen, lifesteal and enchant removals kill you.

Here's an amazing secret as to how to stay alive:
Dunkoro, Tahlkora, Lina, Kihm, etc
Monks are awesome. Let them do their job of keeping you alive. You, on the other hand, should be doing your own job of killing stuff. If you're having problems, bring ward v. melee, etc. Oh, and kill stuff. Dead things can't kill you

Mesmer offers some good surviviability versus melee attacker in the form of Mantra of earth. You put this single skill with stoneflesh aura and stonestriker and you take no melee damage. Stonestriker converts all physical damage toearth damage. Mantra of earth reduces that by usually about 30% or so in a realistic attribute spread. Then stoneflesh reduces by 33 points flat out at 16 earth magic I think, and you can't be hit by a critical. Then with the bonus from sliver armor you're golden.
